You can also key the rig by use the rig's own VOX - just pass audio and trust the rig to key up.īut, by far and away (IMNSHO) the best way, is to skip the SignalinkUSB as the PTT controller and key the radio directly from the PC itself What line does what on the connection is determined by how you set the jumpers in the SL-USB. This is what connects to the SL-USB's 'RJ-45' jack. Once the SL-USB VOX is active, it can key the rig by using a PTT line - either via the mike jack or an accessory port (or other port w/PTT) on the rig. I don't see an obvious "reverse" button to make Fldigi interpret the tones in the opposite direction.Ĭlick to expand. Then you *are* using VOX - it's just the VOX built into the SignalinkUSB (SL-USB) itself. I assume you're doing something to make Fldigi at least get the polarity right so it decodes something. If you're using VOX then are you sure the few seconds delay is not simply the VOX delay? You can probably reduce that a bit but, again, not to QSK type speed.Īs for the LSB / USB difference for RTTY. The features of the radio will play a part in determing what's possible there. Even if you manage to reduce the T/R switching delay, it's never going to get down to QSK type speeds and you'll probably risk "clipping" the CW and wearing out relays.ĭo you have any T/R switching between the computer and radio or are you using VOX? VOX works okay if you're careful but more direct T/R control is better. QSK is never going to happen when the radio "thinks" it's sending SSB. I can only observe how my Elecraft K3 works but it's a specific feature of CW mode.
Real QSK or "break-in keying" means that the receiver comes alive between your dits and dahs. I don't see how you could do QSK in that "MCW over SSB" mode. I guess that's okay because the end result is still "real" CW, assuming your transmitter is clean and you're not overdriving anything but it's not quite the same as using the radio in CW mode and keying it using the key input. The only way I can see that Fldigi sends CW is by sending it as audio over SSB. I have a SignalLink USB sound "card".Īre you switching your radio to CW mode? If you are then that's probably wrong. I assume you have a sound card interface.
I've just had a play with my Fldigi setup on CW which I've never tried before. Lots of good info, however I will continue to use my way of setting output power for digital modes.Īdjusting Output Power on Digital Modes – My preferred way.How are you sending CW and how do you to T/R control?
